In 1961 we lived in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and my parents, sister and I had only begun camping two years before. After spending a week at the NCHA convention at the Lake of the Ozarks, we traveled on to Colorado to spend a week camping in RMNP. I was 10 years old and fell in love with the mountains. Snow in July was unimaginable to an East Coast child and, yet, there it was up on Trail Ridge Road. Now a resident of Colorado, I subscribe to belief in John Muir's statement of 'the mountains are calling and I must go' and count myself lucky to be able to go as often as I do.
